Bob Lee Swagger (Mark Wahlberg) is a highly skilled ex-Marine sniper who has retreated into isolation after being betrayed during a mission in Ethiopia. Living off the grid, Swagger is approached by a shadowy government group led by Colonel Johnson (Danny Glover), who convinces him to help foil a potential presidential assassination plot.
However, Swagger soon discovers that he has been set up as the fall guy in a real assassination attempt on a visiting foreign dignitary.
